Come join us for a driving tour to the Gold Rush town of Alleghany, CA (population 60). Located in Sierra County, it has a working gold mine, the sixteen-to-one, that has been in operation since the Gold Rush days. We’ll be stopping at what was the only bar in town, which is now a “social hall” with a $5.00 membership fee. The membership fee entitles you to a free beer. There are no restaurants or food available so pack a lunch. We’ll meet at Peet’s Coffee at The Fountains, 1198 Roseville Pkwy at 9:30 a.m. and then proceed to Alleghany.
